Beyoncé Breaks Her Silence on the Elevator Incident

Image
Beyonce Knowles arrives at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala Benefit celebrating the opening of "Charles James: Beyond Fashion" in Upper Manhattan, New York, the night the elevator tape was recorded.  (REUTERS/LUCAS JACKSON ) Presented by Beyoncé has made her first public statement since the leaked elevator security footage of husband and sister fighting came out this week. This is also the first that has been heard from Solange and Jay Z, as the family trio issued this joint statement to The Associated Press:  "As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident. But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it. Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. Jay Z Physically Attacked By Sister In Law, Solange Knowles

Image
No this is real … & Solange spits on him! via TMZ : Jay Z was ferociously assaulted by Beyonce’s sister Solange … who was wildly kicking and swinging at him inside an elevator … and the attack was captured on surveillance video … obtained by TMZ. According to our sources, it all went down at a Met Gala after party last week at the Standard Hotel in NYC. In the video … Jay Z, Beyonce and Solange step into the elevator … and then Solange goes crazy, screaming at Jay before unleashing a violent attack. A large man — who appears to be a bodyguard — attempts to hold Solange back, but she manages to connect at least 3 times. At one point Solange throws a kick and Jay grabs her foot, but never attempts to strike her. Beyonce stands by without getting physically involved. It’s unclear what triggered the fight. And this is interesting. When you look closely, you see the bodyguard hit the emergency stop switch on the 12th floor — mid fight — presumably to k

Why Mariah Carey's New Album Title Isn't as Egomaniacal as You Might Think

Image
They always say not to judge a book by its cover, but in the case of Mariah Carey's new album, it's okay to judge it by its back cover. As promised last week, the 44-year-old pop diva has unveiled the title, key art, and track listing for her 14th studio album, but it was a drawing on the back cover that really tells the story. Initial fan reaction was mixed, arguing that the images of Mariah on the album's two different front covers look retouched to the extreme, and the title — "I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse" — is rooted in a seemingly ego-driven declaration of self-identity. Moreover, the track listing on the back cover features a child's handwritten drawing, leading some to wonder if Mariah let her kidschoose the album's theme. Those fans might want to look a little closer. Mariah told Billboard   that her new album would "take its name from a personal possession of mine that's part of an entity that I've had almost all my life.
